“Argentine Food” Label: Authority in Charge

On March 20, 2015, Resolution No. 69/2015 of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries was published in the Official Gazette.

The resolution established that the Agriculture and Food Department of the Argentine Department of Processes and Technology shall be the authority in charge of applying Law No. 26,967, that had created the label "Alimentos Argentinos Una Elección Natural” and its English version "Argentine Food a Natural Choice".  The aforementioned Department will be mainly responsible for the administration of the label and its English version, and will implement the registry of products to be authorized to use said label.

The main aim of the law is to promote the distinction of food products of those manufacturers who voluntarily apply for their use, by certifying their quality, authenticity and originality.

Furthermore, the “seal” will ensure that the products identified with “Alimentos Argentinos Una Eleccion Natural” and/or its English version, are produced and have complied with certain conditions stated by the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing.
