Prohibition to Import Refurbished and Used Tires Repealed

Section 98 of Decree 70/2023, published on December 21, 2023, repeals Law 25626, which the Congress had passed in 2002, prohibiting the import of some tires.

Prohibition to Import Refurbished and Used Tires Repealed

The now repealed Law 25626 prohibited the imports of goods classified under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature tariff codes headings 4012.10.00 and 4012.20.00.

 

The Law had established an exception to the prohibition and had allowed importing  remodeled tires classified under the NCM tariff code 4012.11.00, 4012.12.00, 4012.13.00 and 4012.19.00, provided they had been refurbished under the IRAM 113.323 – MERCOSUR NM 225 standard, and that as long as the exports of used tires were equal or higher than the imports of remodeled tires from that specific origin.
