Registry of Home-Made Wine Manufacturers

The National Institute of Viticulture (INV) has issued Resolution C 45/2010, published in the Official Gazette on January, 28, 2011.
The Resolution establishes the system of protection and creates the Registry for the “manufacturer of artisanal (home-made) wine”.
The “manufacturer of artisanal wine” is the individual participating directly in the process of producing wine in legally authorized premises of his or her exclusive use. Annual production must not exceed12,000 liters.
The manufacturer of artisanal wine must be registered in the Registry mentioned above.
In order to commercialize artisanal wines, the manufacturers must be registered with the INV and comply with the corresponding requirements of production, labeling and circulation and with those regarding wine labeling. Wines must include the identification “artisanal wine”.
The resolution also approves the following: a) registration form for artisanal wine manufacturers and the certificate of registration for the manufacturer; b) the system for manufacturing, identifying and circulating artisanal wine; c) form to declare the acquisition of grapes; and d) form to record the manufacture and volume of the analyzed wine.
