Privatization of Corredores Viales SA

Decree 97/2025 was published in the Official Gazette on February 17, 2025, authorizing the complete privatization of Corredores Viales SA (CVSA). This process will entail the award to the private sector of the roads and corridors currently operated by CVSA, through concession contracts, within the framework of Public Works Concession Law 17520.

This measure implements the provisions of Bases Law 27742, which had declared the state-owned company CVSA “subject to privatization” under the terms and with the effects of Chapters II and III of the State Reform Law 23696.

In this regard, the Decree provides that the Ministry of Economy, with the assistance of the Temporary Executive Unit “Agency for the Transformation of Public Companies,” will adopt the following necessary measures to proceed with the privatization:

  • The termination by mutual agreement of the existing concession contracts for the corridors currently assigned to CVSA.

  • The implementation of the bidding proceedings for awarding new public works concession contracts for said corridors.

  • Once the new concession contracts have been awarded, the dissolution and subsequent liquidation of CVSA.

Decree 97/2025 vests the Ministry of Economy with the power to set up national and international public bidding processes for awarding those corridors CVSA currently operates. The Ministry may restructure the current corridors and exclude or include specific sections.

With this measure, the Government moves forward with the announced policy to transfer the management of road infrastructure to the private sector, with the aim of promoting new investments and economic development.
