Argentine Central Banks Defers Again the Effective Date of QR Codes Interoperability
The aggregators and acquirers’ obligation to implement QR code interoperability for credit card payments and enable customers to use the pull transfer service was deferred until April 30, 2024.

On January 11, 2024, the Argentine Central Bank (BCRA) issued Communique "A" 7942, deferring the entry into force of certain provisions.
On the one hand, the Communique “A” 7942 extended the effective date of the obligation established in point 10 of Communique “A” 7769 until April 30, 2024. Thus, the requirement that the QR codes that companies (acquirers and aggregators) offer to merchants to accept credit card payments be interoperable, so that they can accept card payments from any digital wallet in the system was deferred to that date.
Further, Communique "A" 7942 extended until April 30, 2024, point 1 of Communique "A" 7841. As from that date, participants in immediate transfer schemes that use the recurrent immediate debit (DEBIN) to enable their customers to deposit funds from their own accounts with other providers into their accounts must discontinue such operation and enable their customers to use the pull transfer service.
Therefore, from that date onwards, when these customers wish to deposit funds, they should be able to do so exclusively through the “pull” transfer service.
