Geographical Indications for Agricultural and Food Products

The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing has issued Resolution No. 546/2011, published in the Official Gazette on September 8, 2011.

The Resolution approves the distinctive signs which will form part of the labels and/or packaging of agricultural and food products identifying Argentine Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin registered in accordance with Law No. 25,380 modified by Law No. 25,966 (please see “Update on the Protection of Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin in Argentina”, in Marval News # 100 of November 30, 2010).

The requirements and conditions of use of the distinctive signs will be regulated by the Registry of Indications of Source and Appellations of Origin of Agricultural and Food Products, according to the mentioned laws.
