Contributions to Trade Associations No Longer Mandatory

Through Decree 149/25, published on March 5, 2025, the Department of Labor, Employment, and Social Security defined its stance on employer contributions to business chambers within the framework of collective agreements.

Collective agreements may not impose mandatory payments on non-affiliated employers in favor of chambers, unless employers voluntarily agree with it. The Decree also establishes that the Department will not approve agreements that contravene this provision, in line with prior administrative resolutions and in opposition to certain labor court rulings.

The regulation also stipulates that non-affiliated employers may revoke these contributions freely through a simple and verifiable communication to the beneficiary.

This measure does not affect mandatory contributions of employers to unions, nor the contributions of non-affiliated workers to trade unions.
