Federal Government Convenes Congress for Extraordinary Sessions

The sessions will be held between December 26, 2023, and January 31, 2024, to discuss matters related to the reform of State functions, taxes, and the approval of international treaties and agreements.

Federal Government Convenes Congress for Extraordinary Sessions

Decree 76/2023 was published in the Official Gazette on December 26, 2023, convening the Congress to Extraordinary Sessions. The eleven items included in the order are:
 

1. Draft bill to amend the functions of the State.

2. Draft bill to amend the National Electoral Code (Law 19945) regarding the establishment of the Single Paper Ballot.

3. Draft bill on the establishment of the "Personal Income Tax".

4. Draft bill on authorizing the President to leave the country during 2024, for governmental reasons.

5. Draft bill approving the Convention between the Argentine Republic and Japan for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance, signed in the City of Osaka, Japan, on June 27, 2019.

6. Draft bill approving the Convention between the Argentine Republic and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance, signed in the City of Washington, United States of America, on April 13, 2019.

7. Draft bill approving the Agreement between the Argentine Republic and the People's Republic of China for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance and its Protocol, subscribed in the City of Buenos Aires on December 2, 2018.

8. Draft bill approving the Agreement for the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments between the Argentine Republic and the United Arab Emirates, signed in the city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on April 16, 2018.

9. Draft bill approving the Convention between the Argentine Republic and the Republic of Turkey for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance and its Protocol, subscribed in the City of Buenos Aires on December 1, 2018.

10. Considering International Treaties, Conventions, and Agreements.

11. Considering Agreements for appointments and promotions, and their withdrawal.
