Changes in the Publication of Prices in USD

On January 16, 2025, the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce issued Resolution 4/2025, establishing the principles governing the display of prices for goods and services, including the option to present them in USD or other foreign currencies, without the need for typographic distinction between the different currencies.

The displayed price must correspond to the final amount that consumers must pay. Additionally, the price excluding VAT and other taxes impacting the price must be stated, accompanied by the phrase “price excluding federal taxes.”

When prices are shown with financing, the cash price must be indicated, as well as the number and value of installments, and the effective annual financial cost.

Prices should be clearly, visibly, horizontally, and legibly displayed on each item, product, or group of the same products that put on sight and within consumers’ reach.

Those offering services to the public that are provided from, to, and within foreign countries may display and advertise the prices of these services in USD.

The Resolution does not specify the exchange rate to be used, allowing sellers to freely set their prices.

This Resolution aligns with Communication "A" 8180, which enabled merchants to accept debit card payments in USD, thus expanding transaction options for both consumers and businesses.
