Sergio Ellmann joined Marval O'Farrell Mairal in 1983 and has been a partner since 1995. He specializes in industrial property law, advising national and international companies principally on trademarks and guarantees related to industrial property, internet law and other laws connected with intellectual property.
He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a degree in law in 1987 and obtained a Master in Law at the University of Illinois in 1990. He has made presentations in industrial property law courses as an assistant professor at the Universidad de San Andrés and in many seminars and conferences at other universities and forums on subjects related to his area of specialization. Likewise, he has spoken at practical business negotiation courses for lawyers at the Escuela de Abogacía de Buenos Aires.
He wrote the Argentine chapter of the book “The new role of Intellectual Property in Commercial Transactions” (Melvin Simensky-Lanning Bryer-Neil Wilkof), edited in 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and he is the consultant on the Argentine chapters of other foreign and local publications regarding ownership of registered names and the use of trademarks on the internet.
He is a member of the Colegio Público de Abogados de la Capital Federal, the Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, former Assistant to the Secretary General to the AIPPI Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriete Industrielle (2008-2014), and former President of the AAAPI Asociación Argentina de Agentes de Propiedad Industrial (2006.2010) and current Ambassador for Argentina to the IP commission of ICC.
