Santiago Soria joined Marval O'Farrell Mairal in 1997 and has been a partner of the firm since 2008.
He has vast and outstanding experience in complex litigations, including corporate disputes, in particular in the oil & gas sector, energy, mining, construction, class actions and commercial contracts. Currently, Santiago focuses his practice in arbitrations in the main international and domestic centers such as the International Chamber of Commerce, UNCITRAL, Arbitral Tribunal of the Stock Exchange, and the CEMA.
Before joining the firm, he worked at the Civil and Commercial Court of Appeals of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires.
He graduated with honors from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata with a law degree in 1996 where he received the Joaquín V. González Award. In 2001, Santiago continued his postgraduate studies at the Institute of International & Comparative Law at Cornell University.
In 2007 he followed the PIDA Training in International Commercial Arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); and he completed the “Academy of Advanced Arbitration for Latin America” of the ICC in 2018.
He is the author of several articles and regularly participates in conferences and seminars in his field.
He is at Band 2 of the Chambers and Partners’ Latin American Ranking for Dispute Resolution, where he is described as “a very intelligent lawyer”, and “involved in a high-profile international arbitration case and demonstrates the standing and skill of international counsel".
He is the director of the Argentine Committee of National and Transnational Arbitration (CARAT) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Steering Committee of the Mediation and Arbitration Center (CEMA), the Buenos Aires Bar Association and the Club Español del Arbitraje.
