Gabriel Gotlib has been a member of Marval O'Farrell Mairal since 1997 and a partner since year 2000. He specializes in tax, corporate and financial law.
He has broad experience in tax counseling, advising banks and local and foreign companies of different areas of practice such as real estate, retail and software. He also has experience advising on financing and international transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining the firm he worked for Ernst & Young LLP New York as an Argentine representative in the international tax planning headquarters from 1994 until 1995, in Ernst & Young’s offices in Buenos Aires from 1995 until 1997 and for the firm of Carregal & Funes de Rioja in 1997. He has been external advisor of the Federal Government in reforms related to taxation of financial activities and international transactions.
He was a Professor of Taxation of Financial Instruments at the University of Buenos Aires School of Economics’ Postgraduate Course on Taxation and he is a Professor of Tax Planning at the Austral University School of Law’s Postgraduate Course on Taxation, he is the author of the books “Procedimiento Tributario”, “Nuevos instrumentos financieros”, “Aspectos Internacionales de la Tributación Argentina”, “Vicios y Mitos de la Interpretación Tributaria” and “Tratado de Fideicomiso." He has made many presentations at conferences both in Argentina and abroad.He has published articles on taxation of financing and international taxation in magazines published in Argentina and abroad.
Both a lawyer and certified public accountant from the University of Buenos Aires in the years 1990 and 1991 respectively, he also graduated from the International Tax Program (ITP) at the Harvard University School of Law in 1994.
He is a member of the International Fiscal Association and he was the Argentine Reporter for the International Fiscal Association Congress held in Munich in 2000 on the topic of the taxation of hybrid instruments.
He is a member of the Academic Committee at the Master program in Tax law UTDT.
