Francisco Abeal

Francisco Abeal joined Marval O'Farrell Mairal in 2004 and has been a member of its Banking and Finance Department and Foreign Exchange and Capital Controls since 2008. In 2022, he was appointed partner.
His professional practice focuses on advising companies on a wide variety of commercial and financial transactions and regulatory matters, both locally and internationally. He has participated in numerous bilateral and syndicated loans, financings, debt restructuring processes, guarantees, trust structuring, banking, foreign exchange, regulations for money laundering prevention, bank and other business acquisitions (M&A), and a wide variety of commercial contracts.
Francisco has stood out as a specialist in exchange control and has successfully carried out dozens of foreign exchange summaries. He also specializes in summaries before the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Among other awards, he was distinguished by Legal 500 Latin America 2017 Banking and Finance (Argentina) as "Next Generation Lawyer", "Rising Star", and "Associate to watch" in the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 editions of the same publication.
Before joining the Firm, he worked at the First Instance National Commercial Court No. 7, Secretary No. 13.
He graduated as lawyer from the Argentine Catholic University in 2006, and later completed the Deepening Program in Business Problems at the Austral University. In 2013, he completed an LLM at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago.
During 2013 and 2014, he was a foreign associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP (currently Morgan, Lewis & Bockius) in New York.
He has participated as panelist in different conferences in Argentina on exchange controls, published several articles and papers including his collaboration in the writing of the book Argentine Law on Mining.
He is currently a member of the Public Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires (CPACF) and the Argentine Banking Lawyers Committee.
